Dr. Craig Wright
Psychologist

After obtaining a PhD in 2004 Craig started Understanding Minds with the view to putting his theoretical knowledge into practice. He is now nationally and internationally recognised as a leading clinician in the developmental/learning disorders field (dyslexia, language impairment, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, maths disorder). He is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at Griffith University. He and his colleagues have published in prestigious neuropsychological journals such as Neuropsychologia and Developmental Neuropsychology.

Michalle Wright
Clinical Psychologist
B Psych (Hons) Assoc MAPS
Michalle received First Class Honours in Psychology at Griffith University in 2000. She was also awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. She was then awarded a Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scheme scholarship in 2001 to complete her PhD in Clinical Psychology. Her PhD research addresses the nature of depression in adolescence. Michalle has developed a school-based intervention to assist teenagers at risk of depression.
Michalle specialises in child, adolescent and family psychology. She has helped many children deal with issues such as Asperger’s Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, challenging behaviour, bedwetting, separation anxiety, and physical or sexual abuse and neglect and bullying. She also has a specific interest in family therapy with a view to helping families who are experiencing conflict.

Dr. Tracey Hunter
Clinical Psychologist
B Psych (Hons) PhD (Clin) MAPS MCCP
Tracey runs an adult clinic at Understanding Minds, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to treat common psychological problems including depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues and work-related stress. Tracey also provides clinical supervision to psychologists, having been a member of the APS Clinical College since 2006.
Tracey completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2005 at Griffith University. She has worked as a consultant psychologist in the private sector with a range of adult clients over the past 5 years, including those with chronic and complex psychological problems, as well as clients with situational issues.

Kristy Cooney
Speech-Language Pathologist
B Sp Path MSPA CPSP
Kristy is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 10 years experience. Kristy also trained as a teacher. In addition to paediatric speech therapy, her expertise lies in assisting adolescents with language and learning difficulties access the curriculum. Kristy also has a special interest in children’s literacy.
Kristy currently works part-time at Understanding Minds in addition to her work for Education Queensland. She previously held a position with the Mental Health Service in Ireland.

Kerry Lowe
MA Soc.Sci (Natal)
Prior to joining Understanding Minds Kerry ran a private practice in Durban, South Africa for 10 years and spent time lecturing at a Teacher Education Institution. Her clinical experience lies primarily in learning, behavioural and anxiety disorders in children.
